Last Week: Gabe could see his path to the end, but Caroline helped direct him to Ponderosa.

Post-Merge Shenanigans
As if Sue couldn’t hate Kyle more…
It also doesn’t help that everyone except Sue (including Caroline!) was in on the vote. Sue and Caroline eventually break away to chat, and Caroline makes the case that she felt like she was playing Gabe’s game.
Later on, Teeny, Andy, Sue, Caroline, and Rachel form what they’re calling an “underdog alliance.” Wow, with the majority and two idols, this group would be tough to beat.
Meanwhile, Sam, Kyle, and Genevieve are trying to figure out their place in the game, now that they’re clearly the major threats.
Genevieve still feels terrible that she’s lost Teeny as an ally. I’ve said it a million times; stabbing imaginary “Survivor” competition in the back is easy. Stabbing someone you’ve grown to care about is rough.
Andy once again tells us what a great job he’s doing and how he’s best friends with everyone. Maybe. But I’d be more convinced if there was less tell and more show.
Excursion Time
A boat shows up that will take one person on a journey. Sam, Genevieve, and Rachel want to go while the others are cool staying back at camp. They draw rocks and Rachel wins.
The boat takes Rachel to a platform in the middle of the ocean. She’ll have to complete a puzzle before a series of weights pull the puzzle table into the ocean. If she doesn’t get it done in time, she’ll lose her vote. If she does, she’ll receive an advantage.
Quick Aside: This whole thing is very creative and the timing mechanism is awesome. No notes.
Often these days, “Survivor” feels like a fantasy camp with the same twists, challenges, locations, etc. So, a completely original idea was a nice surprise.
Result: Rachel finishes the puzzle just in time. She cracks open the reward and receives a “Block-a-Vote” advantage.
Rachel returns to the beach and tells the truth about the challenge, but lies about winning an advantage. She tells everyone she lost her vote. Sam doesn’t buy it.
Quick Aside: Here’s an idea, since they never believe what happened on the excursion anyway, have it be something ridiculous like Jeff Probst in a dinosaur costume. It’d be fun to watch the tribe’s reactions to the description.
Later, Rachel tells her new alliance the truth. That honesty helps Sue trust Rachel.
In other news, Genevieve asks Rachel if she’d be cool targeting Sue or Andy if Kyle wins immunity. This is because Genevieve thinks Sue and Andy are just being dragged along and they’re not threats. Rachel says she’s open to it, but surely she isn’t if she just told them about her new advantage.
Sure enough, Rachel tells Andy what Genevieve said and he’s angry that people don’t appreciate how well he’s playing.
Keep telling us that, buddy…
Immunity Challenge Time: The players will use a rope to balance a wobbly table. They’ll stack letter blocks on top of the table. The first person to spell “Immunity” wins immunity.
So after a fresh new challenge, we get this.
Result: Rachel wins immunity! Wow…big Rachel episode.
Pre-Tribal Politicking
Sue is downright giddy that it looks like Kyle’s number is finally up. But, Rachel thinks an obvious vote is the best time to blindside somebody like Genevieve.
Genevieve and Sam are both desperate to keep Kyle, because once he’s gone, they’re next. They try to get Teeny involved in a plan, but she’s part of the dominant underdog alliance.
Yeah, “Dominant Underdog” isn’t going to work for me. They need a new name.
Andy had told Kyle that he wanted Gabe and Genevieve to go next. So, he thinks that if he can save Kyle for this round, that Kyle will either work with him or be a potential jury vote.
Andy tries to get the alliance to flip to Genevieve, but he’s facing a lot of resistance. Caroline in particular hates this idea because Sue is gonna lose her mind if Kyle stays in the game.
Tribal Time
Sam thinks the threats are being targeted, but Rachel thinks that each player might see different players as threats.
Kyle makes the pitch that it’ll be a crowd-pleasing moment if he stays in the game. Well, it’d at least be a Kyle-pleasing moment.
Rachel doesn’t think the Kyle vote is as cut-and-dry as she has considered several names.
Genevieve is having a real moment, because she knows that even if she survives tonight, she still doesn’t have a ton of options for tomorrow.
Voting Time: No votes are shown.
JPro tallies and returns. He asks if anyone wants to play an idol or an advantage and…nobody does. We’ve got one vote for Genevieve, one vote for Kyle, one vote for Teeny, two votes for Kyle, and the eleventh person voted out of “Survivor 47” is…Kyle.
He hugs everyone on the way out and expounds the virtues of working extra hard for your family.
Verdict: Wow, it really feels like Genevieve has given up. Get in there! Find an angle! Find a crack!
Otherwise, it’ll be very boring watching her and Sam get picked off.
And again, kudos for the original excursion challenge.
A+: Rachel - Solid alliance, win an advantage, win immunity. I’m not sure how you do it better than this.
A: Caroline - Sue was a loose end after the Gabe vote. Caroline tied it up nicely.
B: Teeny and Andy - This new alliance seems pretty solid. But, I think if you stick with it you’re playing for third place.
B-: Sue - OK, Kyle’s gone. What’s your winning story beyond that?
B-: Sam - I’m going to be honest, I don’t know what your pitch is to get back into this thing.
C: Genevieve - Her speech at Tribal felt a little like giving up. Which is a shame because she’s such a savvy player.
